Exhibitor Spotlight: Comecer

https://www.comecer.com/

INTERPHEX created a quick questionnaire to learn more about Comecer. In this exhibitor spotlight, Massimiliano Cesarini, answers our questions.

Tell us how your company started and how has your company evolved into what it is today?
Established in the mid-1970s, Comecer is an Italian company based in Castel Bolognese, dedicated to providing certified mechanical components for the nuclear powerplant industry.

In 1986 Italian regulations mandated the use of non-nuclear energy sources. The Founder of Comecer, Carlo Zanelli, decided to apply his existing knowledge of nuclear power to the nuclear medicine industry. Simultaneously during this time, Carlo noticed a growing trend in the pharmaceutical industry—isolation technology—and decided to begin manufacturing automation systems for both nuclear medicine and pharmaceutical applications. Over the last few years, Comecer has expanded to supply aseptic automation solutions to the ATMP market.

How has the industry changed/evolved?
We’ve seen a steady increase in the use of a fully integrated automation system with isolation technology over the years.

What is your company’s biggest success thus far?
One of Comecer’s biggest success stories is based on a highly customized bulk sterile manufacturing and fill finishing automation solution. Today, this project is the largest GMP cell factory for an autologous product that we installed last year which adopted our patented Flexycult™ technology.

What don't most people realize about you or your company?
We understand that each customer has a unique set of requirements which cannot be fulfilled using a standard solution, however, building a customized automation solution requires many components that can easily be overlooked. Our customers are often surprised by how much customization we can incorporate into the design of an aseptic system. Our dedicated project team at Comecer establishes ongoing communication between internal teams and with the customer directly to ensure we meet their expectations. From understanding user requirements specifications to helping our customer’s staff operate the newly installed machinery, we provide creativity and expertise throughout our entire highly customized turnkey solution.

What are you looking forward to at INTERPHEX this year?
We’re always looking forward to meeting with potential customers to tackle their most challenging aseptic projects.
