William (Bill) E. Weiser, Ph.D., is Senior Director, Global Quality Systems, part of Global Quality Assurance in the Pharma Services Group (PSG) of Thermo Fisher Scientific. He is currently leading a centralized function to support the 65+ PSG sites with Quality Assurance Systems, Quality Operations, Laboratory Systems & Technology, Supplier Quality Management, Digital Quality Systems, GMP Training, and Quality Academy. He was interim Pharmaceutical Development Services head for Greenville, NC, Swindon, U.K. and the High Point, NC, USA sites which developed oral, sterile, and soft-gelatin capsule products.
Weiser was General Manager of the Pharmaceuticals Division of Liquidia Technologies, Inc., which was developing novel nanoparticle technology with life science applications. He was also an independent pharmaceutical consultant, providing product development, analytical chemistry, and regulatory expertise for drug development project teams.
Weiser was Vice President Analytical Chemistry at Cardinal Health/Magellan Laboratories. He was also an International Technical Development Coordinator with Burroughs Wellcome Co providing matrix management of chemistry, manufacturing, and control teams.
Weiser earned a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN, and a B.S. in chemistry from The College of William and Mary, Williamsburg, VA
He is active in the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, having been elected Treasurer in 2015. Within the AAPS, he has chaired the Publications, Program Coordination, and Annual Meeting Program, and Audit Committees. He was elected to the leadership of the Analysis and Pharmaceutical Quality (APQ) section.
