INTERPHEX created a quick questionnaire to learn more about Esco Aster. In this exhibitor spotlight, Xiang Liang Lin, answers our questions.

INTERPHEX: - Tell us how your company started.
Esco is a family-owned business founded in 1978 by Singaporean pharmacists Lim Lay Yew and Low Yae Foong and began to pioneer cleanroom technology in Southeast Asia.  The couple launched Esco to manufacture clean room products for Singapore’s then-booming electronics industry. In its early days, they manufactured the first laminar flow clean bench, designed and built its first microelectronics class 10,000 cleanroom for Siemens Corporation. Esco was also the first company in the region to enter the cleanroom laundry business with the production of the Class 100 cleanroom laundry. To date, Esco Aster, A CDMO of Esco group of companies, has emerged pioneering in Asia for discovery to delivery services.

INTERPHEX: - Can you describe three aspects that have allowed your company to succeed?
Esco continuous its path to success with its relentless commitment to innovation, allowing us to stay competitive in the market. Another factor is proper attitude and open communication among all employees which results to promising strategies leading to increased revenues. Lastly is the strong commitment of each employee towards becoming the best in the field worldwide.

INTERPHEX: - What distinguishes your company from others in the industry?
Esco has a presence in more than 100 countries that seek to build a global life science ecosystem. From life science tools, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, to bioprocessing tools and services, Esco is known for its after sales service and synergistic ecosystem for embracing innovation, clinical success, and effective operations. From discovery to delivery, we have the world class products/service for you.

INTERPHEX: - Where do you see the industry going in the next 10 years?
At Esco, we aim to invent, discover and commercialize enabling technologies to make human lives healthier and safer. From clean room to providing different services, the company has been keen to adapt in certain challenges in healthcare industry by providing high quality products and solutions at a lower cost. As new modalities pave their way to the industry, emerging technologies and researches will be more complex but attainable. Discoveries and trials will be faster, more efficient, and concluding to clinical success due to available products or services.

INTERPHEX: - What advice would you give to a professional starting out in the industry that you wish you would have known?
Never stop pursuing. There will be a lot of competition, but a failure should not hold you down. It is with the right attitude and communication that makes you world class worldwide. When faced with such failure, it is a space for learning and redirection. Step back, pause, then continue. It is with optimism and humble affirmation on things you know and don’t know about that will lead you to a great start.

INTERPHEX: - What are you looking forward to at INTERPHEX this year?
Interphex is a big event and we look forward to broadening the horizon of science through commercialization. Additionally, to deepen our understanding on how to improve the healthcare industry further with the products and services we offer. We’d like to keep an open eye whether current research work becomes "re-inventing the wheel" or new trends had emerged and looks out for establishing future collaboration. We expect a good choice or selection of speakers as well, from the scientific and communication standards, with careful organization of their field; according to different topics to be presented at the event.
