PALL Life Sciences to Launch New Technologies at INTERPHEX 2015

NEW YORK, NY; April 21, 2015 – International Pharmaceutical Expo (INTERPHEX), sponsored by the Parenteral Drug Association (PDA), the premier industry event dedicated to showcasing pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical innovation, technology and knowledge, today announced that Pall, a global leader in filtration, separation and purification, and single use technologies will be showcasing several continuous processing technologies in booth #2819 at INTERPHEX 2015 from April 21-23 at the Javits Center in New York.

Resolute® Linear Chromatography Columns with AutoPak

“Pall is pleased to announce that our recently launched Resolute Linear columns will be on display at INTERPHEX,” said Michael Egholm, President of Biopharmaceuticals at Pall Life Sciences. “Resolute Linear chromatography columns are designed for large-scale pilot and production use with a range of 400-1200mm internal diameter. With scalable multi-axis piston control and fully automated packing, unpacking and clean-in-place (CIP), this new range represents a major advance in reducing process risks associated with moving from pilot-scale to large-scale column packing.”

The advantages of Resolute Linear Chromatography Columns include:

  • Fully automated, push-button operation of packing, unpacking and CIP
  • Fully scalable multi-axis control for piston movement
  • In-built maintenance function
  • Ability to use all slurry during packing

PadReactor® Mini Benchtop Single-Use Stirred Tank Bioreactor

“The new benchtop PadReactor Mini is part of our Allegro™ portfolio of single-use bioreactors. The portfolio offers linear scalability up to 1,000 liters for applications from laboratory-scale process development to large-scale GMP manufacturing,” said Annelies Onraedt, Director of Marketing for Cell Culture Technologies at Pall.

The PadReactor Mini platform incorporates the cube-shaped biocontainer design of the larger PadReactor with a highly efficient mixing paddle with dynamic sparger. The cubic shape and the paddle enable efficient mixing at low-speed minimizing shear stress. Dynamic sparging provides high oxygen supply and CO2 stripping promoting high cell density.

All PadReactor systems are proven to be effective for cultivation of shear-sensitive suspended cells and adherent cells on microcarriers. The PadReactor Mini is a turnkey system that includes a controller, and it is especially unique due to its working volume of 5 to 13 liters. “The Mini fills a need for reliable scale-down of the larger systems, and is an excellent tool for the development of viral vaccines, gene therapy and large-dose allogenic cell therapy applications,” Onraedt noted.

Allegro™ STR1000 Single-Use Stirred Tank Bioreactor

Onraedt continued, “We are also excited to debut the new Allegro STR 1000 Single-Use Stirred Tank bioreactor at INTERPHEX in booth #2819. Product details are not being released prior to the show, so we hope that attendees will stop by and learn more on-site.”

Palltronic® Flowstar LGR Test Instrument

“Single use continues to be a great focus area at Pall, and our team is also thrilled to debut the new Palltronic Flowstar LGR test instrument for true point-of-use leak testing of single-use systems up to 200 liters. Flowstar enables end-users to integrity-test endless configurations of single-use systems and filters with one device, including filters or biocontainers, in just around 15 minutes,” said Helene Pora, VP of Single Use Technologies at Pall.

The Flowstar LGR test instrument can be used with air or nitrogen (for oxygen-sensitive applications) at different test pressures. The system has been fully validated with CFR 21 part 11 compliant software so that users have full audit trails with electronic signatures to rely on.

All of the above products, and more, will be on display in Pall booth #2819 throughout INTERPHEX 2015. Please visit Pall directly, or schedule a meeting with the team through Erin Bush at
