Fette Compacting To Introduce the FE75 Tablet Press, Offering Peak Performance For Large Batch Production at INTERPHEX 2015

-Third Model of Renowned FE Series Holds 115 Punch Stations Produces 1.6 Million+ Tablets per Hour-

NEW YORK, NY, ROCKAWAY, NJ; March 12, 2015 – International Pharmaceutical Expo (INTERPHEX), the premier pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical event dedicated to innovation, technology and knowledge, and sponsored by the Parenteral Drug Association (PDA), and Fette Compacting America, the leading supplier of tablet press equipment for pharmaceutical and nutritional applications, today announced the North American launch of the FE75 tablet press, a double-sided rotary press that can be equipped with up to 115 punch stations to produce more than 1.6 million tablets per hour.  Ideal for the premium production of large batches, the FE75’s control system architecture allows for the potential incorporation of all four compression stations into one compression cycle, for direct compression of challenging products requiring maximum dwell time. The FE75 Tablet Press will make its North American debut along with the first-ever look at the complete line of FE series tablet presses at INTERPHEX, April 21-23, 2015 at the Javits Center in New York, New York.

Sharing several novel technologies with the other FE-series models, the FE35 and FE55, the FE75 boasts ground-breaking features including a new, patent-pending conical filling unit, highly accurate manually adjustable filling table, innovative compression rollers, trouble-free, corner-mounted tablet discharge, a highly intuitive, 19-inch operating terminal, and the connection of process equipment via a standardized plug-and-play interface.  While the FE35 single-sided rotary press is optimized for quick changeovers and the FE55 offers maximum flexibility in diverse production scenarios, the FE75 has been specifically tailored to high-volume output for large batch production.

“We are delighted that Fette has chosen INTERPHEX to launch the FE75 and provide the first-ever look at the complete FE series of tablet presses,” said Ed Several, Senior Vice President and General Manager, INTERPHEX. “The global pharma and biopharma industries look to industry leaders like Fette Compacting and INTERPHEX to provide access to new, state-of-the-art technologies and cost effective solutions from development through commercial manufacturing.”

“The release of the FE75 completes the FE series, with which we expect to revolutionize the efficiencies of tablet manufacturing,” said Sean Scully, President, Fette Compacting America. “INTERPHEX is the perfect place to exhibit our cohesive family of presses covering all possible capacity requirements and maximizing production. Like earlier Fette Compacting model generations they share many components across the series and manufacturing data can easily be transferred from one to the next, thereby simplifying technology transfer and scale-up. And their unique characteristic of producing so many tablets in such small footprints makes them so very appropriate for many industries where the availability of manufacturing space is increasingly scarce.”

Scully continued, “Please join us at INTERPHEX in New York City, April 21 – 23, booth number 2505C, for a first-ever look at the complete FE series of tablet presses. We look forward to seeing you in New York!”

With a footprint of only two square meters, the FE75 also sets new standards in terms of its size and space requirements – an especially important distinction given the high value placed on cleanroom floor space. The FE75 offers three manufacturing modes:

  • Mono-layer tablet manufacturing, with double-sided discharge. In this case the user actually more than doubles the output of a high-speed single-sided press, as the press will discharge finished tablets from each side, for every revolution turned
  • Direct compression for difficult products. As stated above, new controls architecture allows the user to incorporate all (or any combination of) the stations present on the machine to significantly increase the available dwell time (i.e. time under peak compression) for challenging formulations
  • Double-layer tablet manufacturing, with single-sided discharge. High-speed bi-layer manufacturing is seamlessly integrated with a full suite of automated features including weight control for individual layers, high-sensitivity equipment for thin first layers, and ultra-precise, ultra-rapid first layer sampling
